
Dr. Shifferaw Taye:
A native of Ethiopia, Shifferaw pursued a master's and doctoral degree in Structural Engineering at the Israel Institute of Technology. He also holds an MBA from Addis Ababa University.
He was Associate Professor of Engineering Mechanics & Structural Engineering at Addis Ababa Institute of Technology as well as the Director of Research at Addis Ababa University.
His developoed master's degree course work and lecturing at schools such as the Technical University of Darmstadt, Germany, where he was also a fellow of the prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Foundation.
He was a lecturer at the the Israel Intitute of Technology (Technion) and was a visiting Professor at San Diego State University. He lectured senior undergraduate / postgraduate course on mechanical Vibrations. As well as at the newSchool of Architecture & Design, San Diego, California .
As a structural engineer, he was involved in the planning and design of various types of engineering projects. He fonded and operated a Structural Engineering Consulting firm that was involved in structural engineering work for a number of private and public projects. He is a registered Practicing Professional Structural & Bridge Engineer.
He has served on the Ethiopian Science & Technology Commission and as Chairperson of the General Assembly of an NGO. Shifferaw has been recognized by Merriam & Aharon Gutwirth and Tuvia Netser Foundations for academic excellence at Technion – Israel. In recognition of his academic excellence, he has been mande a Fellow of the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences. He is a member of American Society of Civil Engineers, American Institute of Steel Construction, International Association for Bridges and Structural Engineering and a Fellow and Founding member of the Ethiopian Association of Civil Engineers.
